Let me take you back a few years…. The job, as field manager, was becoming more and more stressful, in spite of my attempts to maintain my order! What appeared to be the phenonmenon of “change for the sake of change”, was simply overwhelming. I had been a field manager for almost 15 years and I really couldn’t see spending the next 10 years or so, just going through the motions. So about 3 or 4 years ago, I asked the Lord to allow me to do something “different”. I didn’t want an easier job, just different. At the time, I didn’t know how different it would be. The Lord had a plan for me…
My Pastor often told us to write down our dreams and visions for our life. I would really suggest that you all do the same and start to act on it by putting a plan in place… So on Oct. 7, 2010, I wrote down my dream on a 4 X 6 index card. I wrote that I wanted to have my own business that would allow me to minister to the hearts, teach the minds and organize the stuff of those whose doors the Lord would open to me. I also wrote that I would wait for God to reveal to me my vision and I would revisit the dream around August of 2011. I put the card on the mirror of my dresser (in plain sight), so that it would not just drift away to Never-Neverland!
It was around August /September of last year, that I went back to my dream, just by chance? … I don’t think so. I decided to act on it and make my new business a reality. Once I registered the name on Sept. 13th, “Order Your Steps” was official and at that point, it was so very real to me. Then, I started thinking seriously about retirement. I’d never strongly considered retirement before. I figured that I would have to work at least until I was 80!
Then a VERY interesting twist happened…. It seemed like it was within hours, but surely within a few days, I received an early retirement buy-out offer in my email. Needless to say, my calculator went into overdrive. I started figuring mentally and financially… could I really do this? In my Spirit, it seemed so right. I spoke to my husband, who could have brought the entire process to a screeching halt, but he gave me his blessing and the rest is history.
As of December, 30th, I am officially retired. I took my LEAP of FAITH and now the real fun begins!
Now, before you go out and do anything wild and crazy, there is more to the story (read the article attached to give you a little glimpse at some of my reality).
