We are going to talk a little about order, discipline and what it means to be organized.
God is a God of Order. All of creation has a methodical and harmonious arrangement. Interestingly enough, organized is often defined as a methodical and efficient in arrangement or function. Clutter or disorder is not a part of God’s nature. Creation was the process God used to set the earth in order. He took great care in making this universe function in an orderly fashion – day and night, water and land, heaven and earth. The steps of a good man [woman] are ordered by the Lord, and He delights in his way. Psalms 37:23
Are we punctual? Are we always prepared for the task that we are assigned to? Do we plan ahead to ensure that the project will be completed efficiently? This applies to any task or project, at home, at work or at church. Or are we always running late? We can’t find all the things we need to complete the task? Are our projects done haphazardly?
What do people see when they come into our office at work? Are there mounds of paper stacked all over the desk?
Does it really matter if our homes are in order? Does it really matter if we have junky closets & junky drawers?
God expects us to operate with a spirit of excellence in all our ways!
To get organized and stay organized, the Lord must help us to be disciplined. The definition of discipline that I would like to use is as follows:
- Training (as only God can do) that corrects, molds or perfects the mental faculties or moral character
- a. Control gained by enforcing obedience or order
- Orderly or prescribed conduct or pattern of behavior
I believe that if we live in clutter or disorder, there are other aspects of our life that are cluttered & disorganized?
We are more apt to be stressed, frustrated, always hurrying at the last minute to get stuff done.
Is this you?
