The Saga had Just Begun!

First, I wanted to let you know that my experiences are very similar to those of you that have that good government job, not sure why,  but it seemed more popular to go into private industry at the time…. But I digressed!

I won’t take you through the gory details of what it took to maneuver into this new world of computers, but it was not pleasant, but I was NOT going to let it get the best of me. I was still young, I CAN DO THIS!

It wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be, but Guess What? As I was making this transition into Technology, I found myself on the fast track into the realm of Management.

Was I destined to be a THEY? I must say that the manuals with tons and tons of policies and procedures were Very interesting reading… NOT! What did being a manager really mean? For the moment, it would be more money and responsibilities, but even more than that, I’d have an opportunity to develop my own plan. I would now be able to strategize and maximize the talents of my employees to achieve the success of my team, my way.

Again, I would establish Order in the Chaos!

All I had to do was, by definition, get the people together to accomplish desired goals and objectives using available resources efficiently and effectively. This was right up my alley. These are mature adults that I have worked with already and they know how to do the job… This is going to be FUN!

WHAT WAS I THINKING?

Welcome to My World!

I entered the World of Corporate America when I was the ripe old age of 23, by way of Texas (long story).  I’d worked in a variety of companies since I was 14, so how different could this be?  I have always been a perfectionist at heart, so I diligently pursued mastering the tasks at hand.  Doing stuff the way it is supposed to be done, is how I find “Order”.  But what I discovered in Corporate America, is that once THEY find out that you have established an Order, “They” purpose in their hearts to introduce Chaos.  It is like living in a World of Espionage…. THEY seek to sabotage your “Order”.  So within 18 months (yes, it is surprising that it took them that long), I was hit from behind by Technology.  They expected me to do my tasks that I had mastered with a pencil and paper, now I had to use a computer.  This is not fair, my life is now turned upside down.  I CAN’T DO THIS…. Do They know how disruptive this is?  It is hard to breathe, I can’t function in Chaos!

So my true journey began to find Order as I navigated through the constant Chaos of Corporate America!
