School has started… We suggest that you set the clock 30 min. early to allow a little extra time to snooze…. and time to make sure the kids get out of bed, because you may have to ask more than once. Then….
• Breakfast… VERY IMPORTANT! We all need energy to get through our day. Our children need nutrition to stay focused.
• Wash, dress and get ready.
• PRAY for your kids.
• PRAY for your patience with them! They may have had a rough day too. Reading, Writing and ‘rithmetic can be taxing on the brain.

Where Have You Been????

34839555_sIt truly seems like forever since I published a blog post.  I am sure that many of you thought that I had taken my brand new Ford Edge and rode off into the sunset…. But No, I’m still here, four (4) whole months later, with close to 10,000 miles on my not-so-new vehicle and I am still not sure what to write.  With July right around the corner, the last six (6) months are a blur….

At this point, I must say that God has been good.  No Complaints!  I have obviously covered a lot of ground, with 10,000 miles in four months.  However, there have been no relaxing vacations or long, leisurely trips.  But family is healthly, a little wealthier and a little wiser.

There is one thing that I would like to share.  Recently, I read, “The Circle Maker”: Praying Circles Around Your Biggest Dreams and Greatest Fears by Mark Batterson.  I couldn’t begin to tell you how much of an impact the book has had over me, but as a result of reading it, I have made my BIG dream even BIGGER. I’ve circled with prayer, “Speight Enterprises”, a multi-million dollar ministry/business.  Speight Enterprises is a conglomerate of Order Your Steps, Inked Designs, Speight Security and Lara Sean’s (aka Myiesha’s) bookstore & cafe. Our multi-million dollar building is an old warehouse that will be converted to also house; penthouse apartments, an art gallery, a fitness center, etc. etc. etc.  Our building is out there and we are already looking for it, so that we can circle it, like the city of Jericho.

The secret of a really BIG dream is that it is birthed by our God-given desire.  Our sole purpose in life, is to bless others by all that we do and make sure that all the Glory belongs to God.  Some of us have seen our vision very vividly, but for some, the vision is still a little blurry.

Well, I guess that I had something to say after all.  I can’t promise that I will post more often, but let me leave you with this… DREAM REALLY BIG and DON’T DOUBT … and don’t allow anyone to doubt you or your ability to accomplish your dream.

It was really nice chatting with you again and I do promise to keep in touch!

Until next time…

It’s Back to School!

For some, school is already open.  We have taken the freshman college students to their campus and set up the dorm rooms.  We pray that we haven’t forgotten anything…. Did you make a list of all the stuff they will need?  Did you check it twice?!?!?!?    In most cases, our college students will be sharing the bedrooms, bathrooms and kitchen spaces.  So you may have to label some of their stuff and remember, space is limited.  I remember when my youngest was a freshman, she practically packed everything she owned.  😀  … We all live and learn!

Although it looks really neat, if you have this many boxes, you've probably taken TOO much! :-)

Although it looks really neat, if you have this many boxes, you’ve probably taken TOO much! 🙂

Now let’s talk about our pre-schoolers to high schoolers.  We have bought the “school” clothes, uniforms and some of the school supplies.  Our summer routine is over and the “back to school” routine begins… Now pray for your strength and patience!

Start preparing as early as you can.  I would suggest that the day/night before we do the following …

  • Lay out the clothes, shoes, socks, etc.  Leave nothing to chance.  🙂
  • Prepare the lunch (or secure the lunch money) and the book bag.
  • For the girls, comb the hair and tie it up.
  • Bath time and prayer!

Then as time allows, unwind with a cup of tea and prepare for the next day.  Make a to-do list, to include what happens after school, i.e. family time, dinner,  homework, etc.  Remember, patience!

Our new day begins!  Set the clock 30 min. early to allow a little extra time to snooze…. and time to make sure the kids get out of bed, because you may have to ask more than once.

This day will end and another one begins.  It’s called Life!  Routines take practice.  Things will not always go as planned, but you do need a plan.  We can seek peace in the midst of our chaos OR we can have chaos in the midst of our chaos.  Don’t forget to take DEEP breaths often.

Try to keep the house in Order as best we can.   Take each day as it comes and be the best that we can be.  We must embrace our children, no matter how old they are.  Know that they were entrusted to us and even when they are doing somersaults on our very last nerve, they are ours and we love them more than words can describe!

All of our steps are Ordered.  I wish you all SHALOM (Peace) in your hearts and in your homes!!

Now, It’s Back to School!

My Son has reappeared, BUT….

I want to thank my readership, for the overwhelming response that I received regarding my post entitled Grown Children.  This post received the most comments, most of which were words of encouragement.  Many of you were praying with me, that he would return… and he has BUT

There are times when people choose to walk out of our lives. Unfortunately, they also walk away from God. Our prayer is that they come back to God and God will let us know whether they will come back to us. Everything is for His Purpose!….Sometimes, He removes people to make our life better, because they are in the way of what God wants us to do.  There are other times that they are removed so that we don’t interfere with what God is trying to do in their lives.       —— Quote by Candy S.

One of the comments I made was that I pray that my son comes back to God, even if he doesn’t come back to me.  This is truly not, not yet, the story of the Prodigal Son returns….  My son did not leave on the best of terms.  As a parent, there are certain things that are expected, even of grown children and other things that will NOT be accepted or tolerated in my house.  So my son and I parted ways.  I accept full responsibility for my actions and I still stand behind my decision.

I love my son and I sorta kinda/maybe long for the day that he calls me “Mom” again…. But the Lord is not through with us yet!

Please continue to keep us in your prayers!
