A Shifting in 2018!

89259081_m

The year 2018 is now only days away!  I’d suggest that we take just a quick glance back over 2017 and see how much our lives have changed.   The things that we’ve accomplished … or not, are totally dependent on our perspective! However, we’ve experienced almost 365 days (over 8,000 hours) of life, some days were challenging and others enlightening, but I pray that we have lived EVERY day to it’s fullness!

As a NEW year approaches, we must look beyond the Chaos of the world today and continue to focus to establishing more Order in our lives day by day.  In spite of what we see, we should move forward with Purpose, Determination and Expectation!

I believe that we will continue to experience a “Shifting” in our lives in 2018.  Shifting is defined as changing, especially unpredictably.

IF we…

  • Keep our eyes open, so that we can avoid the distractions and move the barriers.
  • Walk through the doors that the Lord opens, but don’t try to push through the doors that He closes.
  • Plan for success, but don’t give up if we fail.  Just get up and TRY again!
  • Organize along the way (I am a professional organizer :-D) and Stay on Track…

May you have a Blessed & Prosperous New Year!

Order Your Steps … 6 years in

It was very interesting looking back on my post from the First year(s) in Review of Order Your Steps!  We are now going into our 7th year and it’s been an AMAZING journey, thus far.

Here are a few highlights:

  • YES! The job is still VERY labor intensive !  😦

<> and <>

I still LOVE my job!

I’ve seen 100+ clients….

  • My most recent testimonial…

When I told my husband that I would be hiring a Professional Organizer to help me organize our home office, he thought it would be a total waste of money. I, however, was desperate.  I couldn’t walk into my office without climbing over heaps of paper and other random items.  The documents had been piling up for almost ten years and the office space was totally unusable.  READ MORE:  A Client’s Perspective II

  • I’ve written over 300 WordPress blog posts, over 900 followers, including Facebook and over 20,00 hits.

One of my first WP post and the most LIKED!

  • The Lord has opened doors that may not have been opened otherwise.  Selling was not in the plan?? But working for ShelfGenie was truly a Blessing!  I resigned from ShelfGenie last June.  Unfortunately, it had become my “safety net”!?!? However, Arline, the former franchise owner and I are still the best of friends!  The Lord always has a purpose, although one that we may least expect.

  • The Lord continues to provide me with a steady flow of OYS clients… and that one client that was my most difficult back in 2012 taught me the most about being about business!  The experience will always serve as a LESSON LEARNED!

I am sooo excited about what my SEVENTH year will hold.  I am in awe of what God has done.  He continues to allow me to touch the lives of the people that He has ordained.  This is about SO much more than money, it about ministry!

“Own Who You Are and…”

Philippians 1-6

Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ:  …… Philippians 1:6 KJV

  • Always be willing to learn and grow
  • Don’t change for anyone but YOURSELF
  • Strive to be the BEST YOU, you can be!

If you are waiting for someone else to look at you differently, to treat you better or to change for you, etc.  I’d strongly suggest that you search yourself first and then your perspective of others and what they think about you will change.  Trust me, I speak from experience …but that’s a whole ‘nother story!  But what I want to share with you today, is what prompted this post…

There had been a few incidents that had occurred during my organizing sessions, that made me doubt my true calling. As I was questioning the Lord about whether I misunderstood what He called me to do, this is what He said to me…

“Own who you are … I will finish what I’ve started in you!”

Since starting Order Your Steps, 6 years ago, I’ve been blessed that I have not had any major mishaps, i.e. “breaking stuff”! 😦  However, in spite of the recent mishaps, the clients had been very understanding, but the endless loop of thoughts in my mind had really been wearing on me.  I am sure that this never happens to you…  when those inner voices make us 2nd-quess who we are and our abilities!

Now, the Lord did clarify for me that my gift is organizing, NOT moving stuff!! :-/ But I’m learning, although it’s difficult, to accept my humanity.  As I’ve shared many, many times, I really don’t like to make mistakes, and yes, even “constructive criticism” is a bit painful. But I’m learning to store it away for now, since I’m sure that it will be very useful in the future.

“Own who you are … I will finish what I’ve started in you!

I had a friend to ask me “when will I get to easy street? You know, when I’ll have all the answers”…  I told her that when you think you have reached easy street, there is another road “up the way”!

The Challenge: The Husband’s Closet!

Have you struggled to organize your husband’s closet? Then Watch & Be AMAZED!!

OK! … Allow me to explain :-/ !  As I stated, I’ve been married for a long time and during the early years of our marriage, I was very diligent in organizing my husband’s closet.  I would hang up all his clothes and make sure that all the shirts & jackets were facing in the same direction.  I would separate the dress pants from the jeans and make sure that all his shoes were lined up properly.

THEN…..  Within a week, the closet would be in complete disarray and out of order!!!  But guess what!?!?, the organizer in me, YES! would organize it again!  I thought that my husband didn’t truly understand how important an organized closet was and after he tried it for a little while, he would realize how much easier his life would be?!?!?!

WELL …. after years of frustration, trying to make it work, I admitted defeat!

SO… This video was meant to help many of you, who are still trying to make it work and organize the husband’s closet.  Take the advice of an expert, you do have some choices:

  • Continue to nag and insist that one day, he will realize that he should really organize his closet; get rid of all the old clothes that he will never fit in again and toss those items that are tattered and torn… Trust me, I know!
  • Continue to organize it yourself and be frustrated to no end, because “he just doesn’t get it!”
  • OR…. resign yourself to the idea that he doesn’t really want his closet organized, save yourself all the frustration and close the door!!

I hope that this video/post has helped someone out there.  At times, you just have to pick your battles and this may be one that’s not worth fighting!!!!!!

If you still need to talk about it, just give me a call! 😀

Organizing Tip: Re-purpose Old Calendars

Today, we are going to talk a little about your collection of old calendars!  In most, if not all cases, we have kept our old calendars for the pictures.  So today, I’d like to suggest that instead of stashing them away in the desk drawers, in a box in the closet or in the plastic bin (amongst many others) in the basement….

Why not re-purpose them??
