As you may remember from my post on April 5th, I experienced several periods of doubt and uncertainty for months leading up to my Order Your Steps event in May. Many of you may be thinking, “It was just an event, why is she trying to make it a deep spiritual experience?” For me, it has been a True Walk of Faith and unfortunately, it’s been very difficult to explain. So, the fact that on May 12th, my Ordering Your Steps, A Mother’s Perspective finally took place, I realized that the outcome of the event was NOT the most relevant part of the process. The major learning and my spiritual growth took place all along the way. So when the event was over, I was still wondering if I’d done it “RIGHT” (by God’s Standard). However, this is The Conclusion of the Matter, For Now! … and if this pic is any indication, I think I did OK! 😀
In addition, here are a few comments from our survey: “What did you like best?”
- I enjoyed everything! So Helpful, Informative, Encouraging
- Nice size of venue and relaxed environment
- I like the intimacy of the event and the openness of the women
- So I guess, it wasn’t about having a lot of people!?
- All the speakers were informative and motivating
- The ease in which each presenter shared their testimony, gifts & abilities — Down to earth. All speakers shared their talk using the Bible
- Topics were spot on. Focus on various areas related to organizing life!
Recommendations: “What did you like least?”
- Allow More time for fitness!
- The fitness speaker should have been at the beginning to get us motivated and moving
- Yes, Mocha Lee, our fitness pro, had us exercising.
- Choose a different day
- Day before Mother’s day may not have been the best choice
- Too many desserts! 😀
- Break out groups of 3-4 for ice breaker and to introduce ourselves to each other
Yes! … We are already planning next year’s event. Stay Tuned…
In the meantime, over the next few months, I will be sharing more details on my walk of faith, My Journey of Obedience – My Journal!
There’s always a MILLION and one things going on in our heads at one time…. Do you need a few tips on “Ordering Your Steps”? WELL, Do I have an event for you!
Coming on May 12th, A Workshop for ALL women.
The year 2018 is now only days away! I’d suggest that we take just a quick glance back over 2017 and see how much our lives have changed. The things that we’ve accomplished … or not, are totally dependent on our perspective! However, we’ve experienced almost 365 days (over 8,000 hours) of life, some days were challenging and others enlightening, but I pray that we have lived EVERY day to it’s fullness!
As a NEW year approaches, we must look beyond the Chaos of the world today and continue to focus to establishing more Order in our lives day by day. In spite of what we see, we should move forward with Purpose, Determination and Expectation!
I believe that we will continue to experience a “Shifting” in our lives in 2018. Shifting is defined as changing, especially unpredictably.
- Keep our eyes open, so that we can avoid the distractions and move the barriers.
- Walk through the doors that the Lord opens, but don’t try to push through the doors that He closes.
- Plan for success, but don’t give up if we fail. Just get up and TRY again!
- Organize along the way (I am a professional organizer :-D) and Stay on Track…
May you have a Blessed & Prosperous New Year!
This project was to organize an entire home, from garage & family room to the upstairs bedrooms. I met my client at a vending event that I attended to share info about ShelfGenie and Order Your Steps. She arrived just when the event was beginning to shut down. She passed by our booth and she said that she really needed to get her home organized. However, she simply took the info and said that she would call me. Arline, ShelfGenie franchise owner, said “Did you get her phone number?” Please understand that God always Orders Your Steps…. I kinda chased her down and got her phone number. AMAZING!! A few weeks later, I did her FREE in-home assessment and the rest is history! 😀
She’s been truly AWESOME! She’s been very patient with me and has worked diligently throughout the entire organizing process. However, at times, it was simply overwhelming for her, but she stuck with it. Although, there were times that she just couldn’t get her homework done, she was always ready to work when I showed up.
Once motivated, she began doing other improvements to her home, i.e. painting, deck refinishing and replacing patio doors… I mean BIG stuff. She is living proof that once you start to establish more organization in your home, it promotes an Order to your life were also times that we had an opportunity to discuss her work life…It is all about Order!!
HOORAY! We have finished the bulk of our project, and now we will need to do some fine tuning to a few areas of her home. We will establish a maintenance program that will enable her to continue what we have started. Our official project wrap-up was last Friday. It felt like we were closing a major chapter of her life, which I guess we have! I appreciate how the Lord has allowed me to minister to her during this last few months. Moving forward, I will check in with her by phone or preferrably a pop-up visit every other week or so. In addition, we will have a two-hour organizing session once a month and then we’ll just see what happening from here! 😀
Here are a few rooms that we did… Take a Look!!
There seemed to be a fair amount of interest in “The Psychology of Clutter“. Thanks to all of you that took time to comment! It is interesting to look at a scientific perspective on the effect that clutter has on our mind, our behavior and our overall disposition. From a spiritual perspective, I have shared more than once how I believe that clutter / disorder has an affect on many aspects of our lives. Order Your Steps has been in existence for almost two (2) years. It has been a blessing to have a steady stream of clients, although customers have come and gone. We have looked briefly at those individuals that try a professional organizer (PO) and decides not to stick with it, but there are others that have not made the call…
Are YOU one of them?
If you were to call in a PO for help,
Where is your Clutter?
It is interesting how my life has evolved and the Lord continues to confirm my true purpose and how Order Your Steps plays a key role in that evolution. My eyes are being opened to see how I can best utilize all my gifts and talents. When I graduated high school, I wanted to be a teacher…. now I can teach organizing. How great is that!!!
During the later part of last year, I started conducting the Order Your Steps‘ “Organizing Made Simple” workshops at Senior Living Facilities. Then I branched out to locations like Wegmans at Woodmore and Largo/Kettering Public Library, where I introduced “Investing Your Time Wisely!”
Last week, Order Your Steps had a booth at the Senior Health and Fitness Day that was held at the Prince George’s County Sporting and Learning Center in Landover, MD. and NOW, we are preparing for the Bowiefest 2013 Home and Health Expo on June 1st. I hope to see you there! For more info, please click the link or check out my Facebook page (please “LIKE”, while you are there).
If we would just wait on the Lord, not sitting in idle, but waiting in expectation. Doors will open as God has promised, and we can walk right in…
