Connect The Dots

Our Steps are Ordered, but are we CONNECTING THE DOTS!

Psalm 37:23 says, The steps of a good man[woman] are ordered by the Lord: and he delighteth in his way.

Jeremiah 29:11 says, For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.

Proverbs 3:5-6, the Book of Wisdom says, Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.  In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.

I’ve discovered that God speaks to me in many different ways and many times, I don’t always understand the true meaning, but I will put a DOT on my life map, because one day the Lord will connect it.  In this message, a number of DOTs were connected and I hope it helps you to connect some too.

Now don’t raise your hands, but how many of you are fairly bored with life right now? It’s interesting, we are sooooo busy, but we have time for television, the telephone and texting, staying connected to the outside world, but what about our world inside?  How much of what we do, are things that are truly fulfilling or are they only things that others expect us to do.  I know! We have responsibilities and obligations and we just can’t go around enjoying life or can we??

In John 10:10, Jesus says that I am come that [we] might have life and that [we] might have it more abundantly (paraphrased).  Was He just talking about things/stuff or was He talking about our quality of life, His love for us, our love for Him and the people around us.  Has life become so routine that we just follow through the motions?

Remember the Connect the Dots books.  There were dots all over the page, but in the center of the page, the dots had numbers on them.  When you connected the dots by the number, a picture appeared.  So now hold that image in your mind as I share my testimony.  I have shared bits and pieces of my journey before, however, for those that may be considering taking a Leap of Faith, I believe that it’s worth repeating.

Several years ago, I felt stuck and I remember saying “God, I really need to do something different, but it doesn’t have to be easy. To be totally honest, I didn’t even think God was listening, yet acting upon what I said, but then what appeared to be random dots on a page started to take shape.  In the midst of everything else that was going on in my life, God was connecting the dots… Order Your Steps was born! God has allowed me to touch 100’s of lives, in numerous homes and through my blog and Facebook page.  I’m learning to flow with God in a way that I never have before. I’m truly living on Purpose!  But don’t misunderstand, it’s been a journey, but with each step I take, I see my path a little bit clearer!

Our lives may appear to be random dots on a page, but Our Steps are Ordered.  When we think we can’t, God says that we can.  God is taking us places where only we can go.

So are we excited or are we scared?

Fear not, for I am with you;
Be not dismayed, for I am your God.
I will strengthen you,
Yes, I will help you,
I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.’ Isaiah 41:10

Or is it Doubt?

But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.  Hebrews 6:13

God is waiting on us to make the first move!  It’s time for us to be like David….We might as well run towards Goliath, cuz the Lord is with us, every step of the way.  CONNECT THE DOTS and let nothing, not even your giants, stand in your way!

Now we gotta have Faith!!

I re-read the story of Mary and it really doesn’t say that she endured a lot of trouble, but we can just surmise.  An angel came to Joseph to explain that his wife had not betrayed him. Thank the Lord!  But, what’s interesting is that Mary accepted her assignment, although she didn’t totally understand it all.  Whether it troubled her or not, she had the Faith that God was going to do what He said that He would do.

We too have our assignment for the coming year.  God has promised us that He is going to meet ALL our needs.  He has told us that we shouldn’t worry about Nothing.  We already know that there is nothing Impossible with God… and ALL things work together for our good.  I speak prophetically that in 2014, we should expect Double for our Trouble! We have a game plan.  We are going to identify our goals (2 or 3 major ones, and pray about them), break ’em down into bite size pieces and reward ourselves for our accomplishments along the way… and most of all, we must ADD Faith!!  It is all for naught, if we don’t believe that we will receive what God has promised!

What is trouble?  By definition, trouble is a state of distress (to cause strain, anxiety, or suffering to), affliction, difficulty, or need; a distressing or difficult circumstance or situation.  So, what was your last bout with trouble?  The first thing that comes to my mind is, financial trouble… not having quite enough to make ends meet.  What trouble comes to your mind?  Consider for a moment with me that we are chosen to endure our season of trouble …Bishop T.D Jakes used the Virgin Mary as an example.  She was favored among women and chosen to give birth to the Holy Child named Jesus.   BUT, then she had to explain to everyone that she was a pregnant virgin.  She had to endure the looks, the whispers, the tears, the hurt and then later, give birth to her son, the Savior of the world, in a barn. Chosen, but not without her season of Trouble!

My Words, My Faith and Order Your Steps

I hope that you found my last (2) posts enlightening.  Now, I would like to outline a few major points that I hope will tie this all together… thus, My Words, My Faith and Order Your Steps.

  • My (Our) Words are very powerful.   We, ALL of us and  especially those of us that believe it Jesus Christ have to be very careful what we say to people.  Believe it or not, there are folks that are just waiting for us to lose our temper; to cuss, just because or simply to say something to make us look bad, for example, “I HATE my boss, don’t you?” … and I could name a zillion and one other examples!
  • We must take every opportunity to tell someone about Jesus.  Let me stress again, it may not mean quoting scriptures.  Simply speak Life and show them the Light.  We can’t keep telling folks, especially our young people, about all the things that religious tradition says that they CAN’T do.

Now, let me tie My Words into my latest challenge.  I have been struggling with whether sharing my faith is appropriate it ALL aspects of my business activities, thus My Faith and Order Your Steps. Obviously, the name of my business is a dead giveaway.  So when potential clients approach me, they have to suspect that I KNOW the Lord.  In addition, if they speak with me for any length of time, they find out that Order Your Steps’ mission is to help them to “not only organize their stuff, but to find Order in their lives.  So, is it appropriate to have “Be Blessed” in my signature?  How about when I compose business communications to certain ShelfGenie customers?- or- What about all the opportunities I have to simply say, I will pray for you or have a blessed day!  But I have to admit that, at times, I get concerned that someone may get offended. Am I the only one that has those moments??  Does this mean that I am ashamed of my faith? …. or is it simply a trick of the enemy?

If the truth be told, it can be a little hard at times for me to hold fast to my Faith.  But it is only when I get caught up in my thoughts that I lose my confidence that God has directed my path.  However, ultimately, I know that if I follow where He leads I can’t go wrong.  He has opened soooo many doors!  Whether I am working with a ShelfGenie or an Order Your Steps’ client, it is all about Organizing & Divine Order.  I truly, truly love what I do.  I know that there are people that will cross my path for a specific purpose, so I must say what the Lord would have me to say.

Well, when you get right down to it, I must be true to myself… and there you have it!   My Words, My Faith & Order Your Steps

Question:  Should I have a separate blog for Order Your Steps for just organizing info?  Comments are welcome!

A Totally Random Rant on Religion (Not a Bashing!) – Part 2

I am glad that I prepared you all for a Part 2 for the blog post on yesterday, because I am sure you all are wondering, “How was that a rant on religion????”   As a side note, let me mention that it was very interesting to see the related articles which expressed major concerns with “religion”, which to a certain degree emphasized a few of my concerns.

Now I did say that I had and still have A LOT in my head on this topic, but let me attempt to connect some of the dots…  In my OPINION and I stress my opinion, Man (Humanity) has misused, mishandled and in some cases, misinterpreted the Word of God.  Some have taken a scripture or two, used it out of context and created an entire religion. For others, religion has become BIG $$$ business. Unfortunately, these and other issues have turned people away from church and away from God Himself.

Along the same lines, many of us (50 and over), grew up in church, which was and in some cases, still is heavily influenced by tradition. As a young adult, it appeared that anything other than breathing would send you to Hell and for some, it is still that way. 😦  My pastor tells us often that we (the church) have allowed tradition to truly choke out the Truth.  The Word of God stands by itself, is spiritually discerned and does not need our help to make it TRUE.

So, what is my point?  We have run people away from God with our words.  Young people and older ones too, are seeking a Savior and we tell them about everything, BUT Christ Jesus.  Your dress is too short, your hair is too long, you can’t chew gum (lol!)…. just to name a few.  I believe that I said it yesterday, if we simply allow the Spirit of the Lord to lead, guide and direct us is ALL that we do and say; Let no corrupt word proceed out of your mouth, but what is good for necessary edification, that it may impart grace to the hearers. Ephesians 4:29

If you notice, Jesus Christ did not hang out with the “religious” folks. He hung with those who needed Him most…. the people that needed to KNOW Him.  We are losing an entire generation or two, because we won’t simply tell this about Jesus.  I have two (2) grown daughters and we have talked about everything.  They have asked me about nose piercing and tattoos, joining sororities and most recently, how would I feel if they stopped going to church.  I respect them as intelligent young women and their decisions, and they respect my opinion. I let them know that I will no longer suffer their consequences for them.  My youngest will call me just to vent and she will tell me up front, “Mom, just listen… I don’t want to hear scripture”.  At times, we just have to agree to disagree, but I am confidence that they KNOW Jesus and that’s the best I can do.  Everyone deserves to KNOW Jesus.  In John 14:6, Jesus said , “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.

Are we speaking LIFE or Death with the power of our tongue?
