Patios are Great in the Fall …

Patios are a great place to sit and enjoy the Fall weather. There’s a nice gentle breeze and just a slight chill in the air…. However, unfortunately, your patio, back porch, deck, etc. may have accumulated a LOT of stuff during the year, so it’s time for an Order Your Steps special touch!

“A time to search and a time to give up as lost; a time to keep and a time to throw away.” Ecclesiastes 3:6 AMP

Tackling Our Closet – Step I

Our overall goal is to show you that the organizing process is fairly simply, although at times, it may appear to be somewhat overwhelming. We will guide you through the entire process, one step at a time. Believe it or not, organizing has only three (3) steps:

  1. Sorting – We will touch every item and separate them into various categories, i.e. tops, bottoms, dresses, etc..
  2. Purging – We will guide the client through the decision-making process (Keep, Donate or Discard)
  3. Organizing – We will find the right place for all items and put the space in Order.

We will begin to tackle our closet by looking at Step 1 – Sorting!

It’s Time to ReVamp our closets and we are here to help!

Please let us know if you have any questions as we take this journey together by leaving a comment or you can email me at candy@orderyoursteps.net.

I would love to hear from you.

It’s Time to ReVamp our Closets!

Spring is gone and we are deep into the heart of summer. Let’s switch gears and prepare ourselves for the Fall season, the Season of Change! It appears that people will be going back into their offices, although businesses are revisiting their work process to include a virtual option and schools are planned to reopen. With the changing times, some of us may be saying… “I just don’t need all these business clothes any more!” Although that may be true, don’t be too hasty. However, this may be a great time to sort through our closet and make sure that our more casual wear is easily assessible. But for some, it’s may be easier said than done….

Our overall goal is to show you that the organizing process is fairly simply, although at times, it may appear to be somewhat overwhelming. We will guide you through the entire process, one step at a time. After we have organized our clothes, we will be able to face our closets each morning and find what we need, when we need it!

It’s Time to ReVamp our closets from strictly business to virtual casual! But for some, it just may be the opposite, but either way, our closets need our attention and we can help! Please let us know if you have any questions as we take this journey together by leaving a comment or you can email me at candy@orderyoursteps.net.

I would love to hear from you.

Life at Home during a Pandemic

There are times that it feels like some people have forgotten that we are STILL in a Worldwide Pandemic. For some folks, like me, we are reminded EVERY day. I live in the house with three (3) adults; my husband and my two grown daughters. My husband has not missed a day of work since the pandemic began and I’m sure that he needs a break from time to time from us ladies, hormones and all. For us ladies, we are homebodies by nature and for the most part introverts, so we haven’t gone totally stir-crazy being in the house. Believe this or not, we not only love each other, but we really like each other, so it has been a rather peaceful existence. Now there are those moments, when we may step on a nerve or two, but we try to resolve all issues quickly and not let them fester. This means that it’s imperative that we have our own spaces. Please don’t misunderstand, we spend most of our day in our own spaces, but we still visit each other periodically, especially when we need a break from our computers or Zoom or it’s time to eat.

For my oldest daughter, the graphic designer and entrepreneur, she spends most of the day between her office and her bedroom. For my youngest daughter, who has her Masters Degree in Library Sciences and Information Management, her bedroom also serves as her office and she spends a lot of time on Zoom.

As for me, my bedroom has always been my place of Peace and Serenity. It is so critical, especially now, that we all have a place for some “me” time. We want to make sure that there’s NO clutter in our area of Rest. Yes, I always have my professional organizer hat on. Many of my clients have removed their TV from the bedroom, so that they can read instead and I strongly suggest that we not work in bed. You can see that I have a small area in the corner of my bedroom, which serves as my office.

I may have shared with you, once or twice, that I truly prefer organizing over cleaning, so although I’ve had a lot more spare time, I really haven’t wanted to do either. .. but, no I don’t have a dirty, unorganized house, I’ve just be a little slothful at times. :-/ Recently, I had my 2nd COVID vaccine and was down for the count the following day…. but the next morning, I had to work on my OWN pantry and lazy susan!!

As I’ve already mentioned, I live with three adults and stuff may not go back “exactly” where they came from, but hopefully, the items will be put in the same general area. Since we will be continuing to grocery shop on-line, at least we can kinda see everything and won’t purchase duplicate items. Note: If you purge and organize any area, I can ALMOST guarantee that you’ll have more space!!

Well, you have now seen a glimace of the day in the life of a professional organizer on hiatus due to COVID, but let’s not forget my relaxation / “me” time, which is spent reading bible plans, doing jigsaw puzzles and Words with Friends.

So by now, you may be wondering why am I telling you all this… Although this last year has been one that we have NEVER EVER seen before and it’s not over, we’ve made adjustments, some were major. There’s a Lot that we truly don’t understand, but in spite of what we see and feel, God has continued to bless us beyond measure. Since I started my mission, Order Your Steps LLC, almost 10 years ago, along with this blog, my messages has been, and will always be, to encourage you to not only Survive, but to Thrive, no matter your situation or circumstance.

Focus on the Goal

“I’m not saying that I have this all together, that I have it made. But I am well on my way, reaching out for Christ, who has so wondrously reached out for me. Friends, don’t get me wrong: By no means do I count myself an expert in all of this, but I’ve got my eye on the goal, where God is beckoning us onward—to Jesus. I’m off and running, and I’m not turning back.”

Philippians 3:13-14 MSG

Keep Moving Forward by Faith!

Are You too Tired?

Are you just too tired to take another step? Tired of being isolated? Tired of being with/without family? Tired of being alone? Just Tired! I truly understand, however, we must take the next step. Why, you say? Because first, we can not stay in this spot and better yet, when we take the next step, the Lord will show us the next one.

Now we need to get some preliminary things out of the way…

  • You may not know the Lord. Well, for now, that’s ok, He knows you! You will just have to trust me on that. We will talk more about that later.
  • You may know the Lord, but you are not very happy with Him right now. Well, that’s ok too, because He knows that already.
  • Either way, we need to have a conversation with the Lord and let Him know that we’re going to take the next step and we need Him to show us just a little light, so that we can see the next one. Now, take the step, one foot in front of the other. Fairly simple!

No, not really… We will wake up tomorrow to a new day! … but we feel the same.

So here’s some advice:

  1. Get up tomorrow when you wake up, try not to snooze and put your feet on the floor.
  2. Turn off the phone or at least silence it for ONE hour. Please do not scroll! Everyone else in the world seem so happy????
  3. Find a quiet spot and open the curtains to your new day. Rain or shine, it’s gonna be a Good day!
  4. Open the window if possible, we can definitely use some fresh air.
  5. Fix you a cup of coffee or tea, take a deep breath and now you are ready for your next step.

We’re Moving Forward by Faith… but it’s definitely not easy. Life may seem dark right and we can’t see what’s in front of us, but with each step we take, the Lord will light up the next one.

Thy Word is a Lamp unto my feet and a Light unto my path.

Psalm 119:105

What’s Next?

It’s hard to believe that it’s March already. The 1st quarter of 2021 will be drawing to a close sooner than we think. I pray that you are well on your way into the 2nd year of a new decade! This is a year of “Moving Forward in Faith”. We may have had to… 1) REIMAGINE our vision; 2) REFINE our goals and 3) REENERGIZE our plans, but now we must keep Moving Forward in Faith. We may not be able to see the entire path, but with each step, the next step will become clearer.

Stay With Me…

“Stay With Me… We are going somewhere”! As we reflect on our past, we must anticipate revelations for our future.  I believe that the turning point for us to find Order in the continuous chaos, is realizing that the one and only thing that we can change are ourselves. One day, I heard a missionary say, “it is not how the situation looks, it is how we look at the situation”. Now is the time for us to take a real serious look at what we want and need in life. Now life is not perfect, nor should we expect it to be, but there should be some semblance of Peace and Order.

  • Take a few moments to invest in our future.  Jot down some notes about our life as we know it today…. we might be amazed at how our life looks on paper!
  • Take a look at those things that we would like to see changed, Big and small.
  • Does clutter in your physical environment of any kind, have an impact on those changes?  We will talk a little more about this next week…

Remember, it is very difficult to change something, without understanding our current state and our desired outcome. We must keep moving forward!
