A Rude Awakening…

As we get older, we have discovered that our children (to put it bluntly) really don’t want our cherished possessions. I have two daughters and I was saving my wedding dress, but guess what? … So even if you are not considering moving, you may want us to help you with those somewhat cluttered areas of your family home, i.e. basement, attic, storage unit, etc.

BACK TO SCHOOL TIP FOR WEEK!

School has started… We suggest that you set the clock 30 min. early to allow a little extra time to snooze…. and time to make sure the kids get out of bed, because you may have to ask more than once. Then….
• Breakfast… VERY IMPORTANT! We all need energy to get through our day. Our children need nutrition to stay focused.
• Wash, dress and get ready.
• PRAY for your kids.
• PRAY for your patience with them! They may have had a rough day too. Reading, Writing and ‘rithmetic can be taxing on the brain.

BACK TO SCHOOL TIP OF THE WEEK!

Let’s talk about our pre-schoolers & elementary schoolers. We have bought the “school” clothes, uniforms and some of the school supplies. Our summer routine is over and the “back to school” routine begins… Now pray for your strength and patience! We’d suggest that you start preparing for each school day as early as you can. I would suggest that the day/night before…
<>Lay out the clothes, shoes, socks, etc. Leave nothing to chance.
<> Prepare the lunch (or secure the lunch money) and the book bag.

BACK TO SCHOOL WORDS OF WISDOM!

Routines take practice. Things will not always go as planned, but you do need a plan. Don’t forget to take DEEP breaths often. Take each day as it comes and be the best that we can be. We must embrace our children, no matter how old they are, even when they are doing somersaults on our very LAST nerve, they are ours and we love them more than words can describe!

A Journey to Order: A Man’s Closet!

Another Journey into being MORE Organized… A Man’s Closet! Recently, I had the opportunity to organize a client’s husband’s closet!  Just for the record, the organizing process is the same, no matter the space….

In my experience, if a man takes pride in his clothes, then I find that their closets are very organized. On the other hand, there are men that would prefer that their closets not be organized, generally speaking…

I welcome your thoughts and comments! 😃

The Challenge: The Husband’s Closet!

Have you struggled to organize your husband’s closet? Then Watch & Be AMAZED!!

OK! … Allow me to explain :-/ !  As I stated, I’ve been married for a long time and during the early years of our marriage, I was very diligent in organizing my husband’s closet.  I would hang up all his clothes and make sure that all the shirts & jackets were facing in the same direction.  I would separate the dress pants from the jeans and make sure that all his shoes were lined up properly.

THEN…..  Within a week, the closet would be in complete disarray and out of order!!!  But guess what!?!?, the organizer in me, YES! would organize it again!  I thought that my husband didn’t truly understand how important an organized closet was and after he tried it for a little while, he would realize how much easier his life would be?!?!?!

WELL …. after years of frustration, trying to make it work, I admitted defeat!

SO… This video was meant to help many of you, who are still trying to make it work and organize the husband’s closet.  Take the advice of an expert, you do have some choices:

  • Continue to nag and insist that one day, he will realize that he should really organize his closet; get rid of all the old clothes that he will never fit in again and toss those items that are tattered and torn… Trust me, I know!
  • Continue to organize it yourself and be frustrated to no end, because “he just doesn’t get it!”
  • OR…. resign yourself to the idea that he doesn’t really want his closet organized, save yourself all the frustration and close the door!!

I hope that this video/post has helped someone out there.  At times, you just have to pick your battles and this may be one that’s not worth fighting!!!!!!

If you still need to talk about it, just give me a call! 😀

Holidays are Coming! …. Are you Ready?

The Fall season has FALLEN32962411_s and there are less than two (2) months left in the year!  BUT DON’T PANIC!   Believe or not, you still have time to prepare, plan and minimize some of the stress that may be associated with the hustle and bustle of the Holidays.

Let’s just look at a few thought starters….

  • Start NOW! – Although it appears that you have a while yet…. you really DON’T.  Start planning now!  Get out the pencil and paper and jot down 2-3 “Must Do’s.  Maybe it’s clean the pantry, prepare the menu for Thanksgiving dinner or simply pull out the decorations to get you in the mood.
  • Establish a few LOOSE guidelines, objectives and timelines.  Remember this is NOT to make the preparation more stressful, so keep it loose, i.e. “I want to have my menu and grocery list finalized at least 2 weeks prior to Thanksgiving”.  Put the date reminder on your calendar.
  • Put a few items in the plan for Christmas Prep also.  Maybe you want to get the spare rooms ready.  Change the linen, make room in the closets, if necessary or  set the guest towels aside.
  • Give the kids the sale papers!  Let them start to prepare their wish list, so that they have the incentive to go through their old toys early (old clothes too, Moms) and donate to someone less privileged.

As I say often, set aside 20 minutes per task ONLY.

  1. Identify the task
  2. Set the timer
  3. Do as much of the task as you can
  4. When the timer goes off, Stop! and go on to something else
  5. DON’T TRY TO EAT THE ELEPHANT!

Try to Pace Yourself, Starting Now!

Don’t wait or you will be caught in the Holiday Whirlwind before you know it!

Organizing the Garage

On Memorial Day, I decided to organize my garage… against my husband’s better judgment.  :-/  .  Although I was unable to really get rid of a LOT of stuff, my husband did agree to throw some of his things away, especially since for the most part, he had forgotten he had some of it???  In spite of my boundaries, I was able to establish some semblance of Order!

Please let me know what you think….
