Patios are Great in the Fall …
Patios are a great place to sit and enjoy the Fall weather. There’s a nice gentle breeze and just a slight chill in the air…. However, unfortunately, your patio, back porch, deck, etc. may have accumulated a LOT of stuff during the year, so it’s time for an Order Your Steps special touch!

Tackling Our Closet – Step III – Organizing
We hope that you had a Fun & Relaxing Labor Day Holiday!
I took a little break from social media for the past few weeks, so I hope that you’ve begun to tackle your closet and you are breathing a little easier. My break should have also given you a little more time to complete the two most difficult steps of the process, which were Sorting and Purging. Today we’re going to work on Organizing, the final step of the organizing process and to me, the step which is the most Fun!
We are in the homestretch of this journey and again, I ask that if you have any questions, concerns, ideas or suggestions along the way, simply leave us a comment.
I would LOVE to hear from you!
Tackling Our Closet – Step II – Purging
Are you feeling a tad overwhelmed at the mere thought of “Tackling Your Closet”? Hopefully, you’ve had the opportunity to complete Step 1 of the organizing process, which is Sorting. Today, we are going to work on Step 2, Purging. We will decide what we need to keep and what really needs to go. Although this may be considered the most difficult part of the process, just stick with us and we’ll show you that it’s easier than you think.
It’s Time to ReVamp our closets and we are here to help!
Please let us know if you have any questions as we take this journey together by leaving a comment or you can email me at candy@orderyoursteps.net.
I would love to hear from you.

Tackling Our Closet – Step I
Our overall goal is to show you that the organizing process is fairly simply, although at times, it may appear to be somewhat overwhelming. We will guide you through the entire process, one step at a time. Believe it or not, organizing has only three (3) steps:
- Sorting – We will touch every item and separate them into various categories, i.e. tops, bottoms, dresses, etc..
- Purging – We will guide the client through the decision-making process (Keep, Donate or Discard)
- Organizing – We will find the right place for all items and put the space in Order.
We will begin to tackle our closet by looking at Step 1 – Sorting!

It’s Time to ReVamp our Closets!
Spring is gone and we are deep into the heart of summer. Let’s switch gears and prepare ourselves for the Fall season, the Season of Change! It appears that people will be going back into their offices, although businesses are revisiting their work process to include a virtual option and schools are planned to reopen. With the changing times, some of us may be saying… “I just don’t need all these business clothes any more!” Although that may be true, don’t be too hasty. However, this may be a great time to sort through our closet and make sure that our more casual wear is easily assessible. But for some, it’s may be easier said than done….
Our overall goal is to show you that the organizing process is fairly simply, although at times, it may appear to be somewhat overwhelming. We will guide you through the entire process, one step at a time. After we have organized our clothes, we will be able to face our closets each morning and find what we need, when we need it!
It’s Time to ReVamp our closets from strictly business to virtual casual! But for some, it just may be the opposite, but either way, our closets need our attention and we can help! Please let us know if you have any questions as we take this journey together by leaving a comment or you can email me at candy@orderyoursteps.net.
I would love to hear from you.

Virtual versus On-Site Organizing
As we discussed briefly last week, “Clutter does Matter”… Prior to the pandemic, I understood virtual organizing in principal, but not so much in practice. I’d always promoted my “hands on” approach to organizing, therefore, virtual organizing was an offering in my portfolio, if it was needed. As we all realized, in the midst of a pandemic, “virtual” has become a way of life. However, for my clients, who have worked with me in the comfort of their homes, just were not sure if organizing via FaceTime, ZOOM or any other virtual platform would work.
In February of 2020, I started working with Detra. Detra and I not only had great organizing sessions and had accomplished a lot, but, we also had some amazing conversations, as with all my clients. However, by the end of March, we were in the throws of a worldwide pandemic and the governor had enacted a stay at home order. Virtual organizing was no longer simply an offering, but the way I had to do business. Detra was very, very skeptical about virtual organizing until she decided to give it a try. So I’d like to invite you to sit back, get some coffee or a soft drink, relax and listen to her experience.
Although I realize that you may not have 30 minutes to spare, I believe that it will be time well spent .. and there may be a message or two, just for you.
We would love to know what you think!
Clutter Does Matter…
Last week, we asked the question; “Does clutter in our physical environment of any kind, have an impact on the changes we attempt to make in our lives?”
… and the Answer is Yes!
Physical Clutter in our surroundings competes for our attention, resulting in decreased performance & productivity.*
Many people don’t realize that there is a physiology effect of clutter, which may result in:
- Feeling overwhelmed, stressed out, or anxious.
- Affects our relationships, our health, and our ability to enjoy life.
- Creates a sense of hopelessness, and can even contribute to depression and other mood disorders.
In light of our continued climate of COVID, which requires extensive health and safety precautions, we would love to share with you our virtual organizing offerings. Next week, we will take a look at virtual versus on-site organizing…. Stay Tuned!
Stay With Me…
“Stay With Me… We are going somewhere”! As we reflect on our past, we must anticipate revelations for our future. I believe that the turning point for us to find Order in the continuous chaos, is realizing that the one and only thing that we can change are ourselves. One day, I heard a missionary say, “it is not how the situation looks, it is how we look at the situation”. Now is the time for us to take a real serious look at what we want and need in life. Now life is not perfect, nor should we expect it to be, but there should be some semblance of Peace and Order.
- Take a few moments to invest in our future. Jot down some notes about our life as we know it today…. we might be amazed at how our life looks on paper!
- Take a look at those things that we would like to see changed, Big and small.
- Does clutter in your physical environment of any kind, have an impact on those changes? We will talk a little more about this next week…
Remember, it is very difficult to change something, without understanding our current state and our desired outcome. We must keep moving forward!
Conquer the Paper Clutter Monster!
2019 is gonna be busy, but a GOOD busy! I feel that there are sooooo many NEW ideas that will be implemented this year! Many of you may be feeling the same way, so I was wondering if you would be interested in a “CONQUER THE PAPER CLUTTER MONSTER” Workshop? I haven’t worked out all the logistics, but I’m thinking 3 LIVE Interactive sessions, which would focus on developing an organized system to manage MAIL! … Personal & Business papers.
I’m working with a client now, who’s a single mom AND she is literally managing 4 small businesses. As we began to organize the papers, we realized that she needed to establish an Order to her life, which would allow her to operate a lot SMARTER, because she was already working HARDER!
If we can help you, just let us know…
