Patios are Great in the Fall …
Patios are a great place to sit and enjoy the Fall weather. There’s a nice gentle breeze and just a slight chill in the air…. However, unfortunately, your patio, back porch, deck, etc. may have accumulated a LOT of stuff during the year, so it’s time for an Order Your Steps special touch!

Back to School Tips for your College Students
We must be mindful of challenges that face our young adults who are returning to college campuses all over the country.
Here are a few tips that I hope will be helpful…
General Campus Tips During COVID-19: When you go out, take a mask (face covering), disinfectant wipes, tissues, and hand sanitizer with you. Avoid large groups of people.
Living Arrangements During COVID-19: When possible, ask for a single dorm room or if you live in an apartment, request a single bedroom. Consider using a personal tote to keep all your personal belongings separate. Avoid sharing with dorm mates or roommates but if you must, disinfect all surfaces, including doorknobs, light switches, drawer and utility handles before and after using.
Dining During COVID-19: Wash your hands for 20 seconds with soap and water or use alcohol-based sanitizer before and after eating.Do not share food, drink or utensils. Eat grab and go (prepared) food items when you can.
Back to School Tips

Now that most of our children are back in the classroom after over a year, I’m sure that there’s been a lot of hustle and bustle over the past few weeks. So, I thought that I should allow some time for the dust to settle and then share a few tips that might help you to fine-tune your daily routine and make managing the home a little easier.
First and foremost, I pray for your strength and patience!
Then, I’d like to make a few suggestions. Start preparing as early as you can. I would suggest that the day/night before we do the following …
- Lay out the clothes, shoes, socks, mask, etc. Leave nothing to chance. 🙂
- Prepare the lunch (or secure the lunch money) and the book bag (don’t forget the hand santizer).
- For the girls, comb the hair and tie it up.
- Bath time and Prayer.
- Remember, patience!
Then, as time allows, unwind with a cup of tea or coffee and prepare for the next day.
Make a to-do list, to include what happens after school, i.e. family time, dinner, homework, etc. Set the clock 30 min. early to allow a little extra time to snooze and time to make sure the kids get out of bed, because you may have to ask more than once. Then…. a new day begins!
- Breakfast… VERY IMPORTANT! We all need energy to get through our day. Our children need nutrition to stay focused.
- Wash, dress and get ready.
- PRAY for your kids.
- PRAY for your patience with them! They may have a rough day ahead too. Reading, Writing and ‘rithmetic can be taxing on the brain.
This day will end and another one begins. It’s called Life! Routines take practice. Things will not always go as planned, but you do need a plan. We can seek peace in the midst of our chaos OR we can have chaos in the midst of our chaos. Don’t forget to take DEEP breaths often. Try to keep the house in Order as best we can. Take each day as it comes and be the best that we can be. We must embrace our children, no matter how old they are. Know that they were entrusted to us and even when they are doing somersaults on our very last nerve, they are ours and we love them more than words can describe! All of our steps are Ordered.
I wish you all SHALOM (Peace)in your hearts and in your homes!!
Introducing “Holy Ghost Downloads”!
I am SUPER, SUPER excited to share with all of you my new blog, entitled “Holy Ghost Downloads”! But before I start I want to give an ENORMOUS SHOUT OUT to Cindy Knoke! Please take a moment to take a look at all of the AMAZING photography on her blog. I believe that Cindy has been on WordPress as long as I have and she has always been one of my biggest encourager. She has consistently “LIKED” all of my posts, which many times kept me motivated to continue blogging.
Cindy, Thank You!
As I eluded to earlier, I’ve been on WordPress almost 10 years. I started my blog, Finding Order in Chaos when I started my business, Order Your Steps LLC. If you have followed me any length of time, you know that Order Your Steps has been much more of a ministry to me than a business. Therefore, I’ve given you not only organizing tips, but there have been numerous spiritually inspired messages, which I believe have been sent directly from the Holy Spirit, that I have been compelled to share, thus the birth of “Holy Ghost Downloads”.
In the midst of this pandemic, my mantra has been “Moving Forward by Faith”, we can’t look back, we must look ahead. We have endured so much for the past two years. Many of us are hurting, heavy-hearted and feeling a tad hopeless, however, I truly believe that the Holy Spirit is speaking to us in so many ways in the midst of our most difficult times. Therefore, rather you’re here at Finding Order in Chaos with tips to help you to bring Order to your space -or- over at Holy Ghost Downloads where I hope that you will take a moment or two to listen to hear what the Holy Spirit is saying to bring Order to our minds and hearts…
It’s a New Day, Every Day!
My prayer is that you will find inspiration, encourgagement and hope!
But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.
John 14:26 KJV
Fall is Here!
Tips for Back to Work
Although, I understand the push for us to return to the office and our children to go back to school, let’s not move too fast… we are not out of the woods yet. Here are some tips for going back to the office that you might find helpful:
- “Don’t jump right in. Put your toe in the water. Go back to your office before your official start date. Look around. Sit in your chair.
- When you do your dry run, take some cleaning products with you and spend some time getting your space ready.
- “The right wardrobe can help you transition back into your role. Consider buying a new outfit or refreshing your wardrobe a little by adding pieces that make you feel comfortable.
- Remember we talked about “Tackling Your Closet“!
Let’s take it One Step at a Time!
For More Tips (for Informational Purposes Only):
Tackling Our Closet – Step III – Organizing
We hope that you had a Fun & Relaxing Labor Day Holiday!
I took a little break from social media for the past few weeks, so I hope that you’ve begun to tackle your closet and you are breathing a little easier. My break should have also given you a little more time to complete the two most difficult steps of the process, which were Sorting and Purging. Today we’re going to work on Organizing, the final step of the organizing process and to me, the step which is the most Fun!
We are in the homestretch of this journey and again, I ask that if you have any questions, concerns, ideas or suggestions along the way, simply leave us a comment.
I would LOVE to hear from you!
It’s Time to ReVamp our Closets!
Spring is gone and we are deep into the heart of summer. Let’s switch gears and prepare ourselves for the Fall season, the Season of Change! It appears that people will be going back into their offices, although businesses are revisiting their work process to include a virtual option and schools are planned to reopen. With the changing times, some of us may be saying… “I just don’t need all these business clothes any more!” Although that may be true, don’t be too hasty. However, this may be a great time to sort through our closet and make sure that our more casual wear is easily assessible. But for some, it’s may be easier said than done….
Our overall goal is to show you that the organizing process is fairly simply, although at times, it may appear to be somewhat overwhelming. We will guide you through the entire process, one step at a time. After we have organized our clothes, we will be able to face our closets each morning and find what we need, when we need it!
It’s Time to ReVamp our closets from strictly business to virtual casual! But for some, it just may be the opposite, but either way, our closets need our attention and we can help! Please let us know if you have any questions as we take this journey together by leaving a comment or you can email me at candy@orderyoursteps.net.
I would love to hear from you.
Please Stay Tuned, there’s even more help on the way!
Take Time for Self-Care
During the month of July, my “Moving Forward by Faith” Interview and Video Series focused on Self-Care, Health & Wellness. We had the opportunity to speak with Ms. Quay Holland, Integrative Nutrition and Autoimmune Health Coach and Owner of Q ur Body Lifestyle LLC. She answered the question, What is Wellth? and much, much more. Ms. Holland believes that while on our life’s journey, we discover that we lack purpose, alignment and true WELLth™ in many areas of our personal, professional, financial lives. This unstable lifestyle can negatively impact our bodies, minds and souls in profound ways, like unhealthy relationships with food, environments or individuals and lack of self-care. It’s time for a change!
We also shared some Words of Wisdom from Ms. Mocha Lee, Certified Personal Trainer and Owner of Fitness Fanatics. A very, very busy mom herself, wife and an entrepreneur, she understands that we don’t have hours to spend at the gym… and “what about our hair!” Mocha Lee suggested that we start our day with our devotionals, prayer and meditation. Then, if we would spend ONLY ten minutes in the morning with low impact cardio exercise, we would be amazed at how much more energy we would have throughout the day.
MOCHA’S METHOD – The Four “M’s”
| 1. Motivation 2. Morning Movement 3. Manage Meals 4. Making Meaningful Measurements (Set Smart, Attainable Goals) |
Lastly, we are working on one more video for this month, entitled “Coping during COVID” (formerly entitled “Coping with our Emotions during Isolation”), A Conversation with Dr. Sadie John, Christian Clinical Psychologist.
So Stay Tuned…
However, in the meantime, I believe that someone out there needs to hear this today!
